Yesterday, I had a super productive morning and was feeling on top of the world. Then… I crashed. I can’t tell you what happened or why, but my mind and body failed me. I fell into a complete brain fog (which is far different than letting myself get distracted) and my body fell weak. I could barely walk down my hallway to the pantry to scope out a snack. I thought, perhaps, my blood sugar was a little low.
I chose to be patient with my body and my brain and give myself some rest. How often do we try to push through our pain and fatigue, ignoring our red flags, and become irritable and weaken our immune system?
To take care of ourselves is to love ourselves.
Now that I made the conscious decision to get comfy, lie down and rest yesterday, I am having a FANTASTIC day today! My mind is clear, my body is feeling less achy and weak, and I am ready to be my best self — for me, for my family, and for my clients.
This is such a great lesson and reminds me of the old adage about putting your own oxygen mask first. Take care of yourself and you will have the ability to help others. I solemnly swear to take care of myself and show up as my best self for my family, my friends, and my clients.
